It’s not easy to get letters published in major newspapers as they receive hundreds every day. To improve your chances

Check and follow the rules for Letters to the Editor for your newspaper
Keep it short – Check on the number of words accepted by your newspaper
Make one or two points only
Send it to one newspaper only
Do not expect to be published more than once a week.
Do not send the same letter again
Don’t abuse anyone
Respond to a story published in the paper – send your letter the same day, the earlier the better.
Disclose who you are if relevant – this may not be disclosed
Include sources to back up what you say – these may not be published
