Support the Manyana community this week to save the Manyana Special Conservation Reserve from bulldozing by Ozy Homes.
We remember the Black Summer mega-fire of early 2020 that destroyed lives, homes and wildlife habitat in unprecedented numbers.
Volunteer firies managed to save the 20 hectares of forest habitat in Manyana now threatened by Ozy Homes. Some of these same firies have been part of the fight in the years since to save it again from being bulldozed.
This development was approved in 2008 and is what locals call a “zombie DA” that must be blocked to protect Manyana into the future.
You can find the whole background of this action on the Manyana Matters website. They ask you to send a quick email to Fiona Phillips MP (fiona.phillips.mp@aph.gov.au) to save the Manyana Forest.
Nannas are including in our emails:
– Acknowledgement of the support Fiona Phillips MP has given to the campaign
– A personal plea expressing our concern for the people and wildlife of Manyana
– How much we admire Manyana Matters volunteers and their work to heal and rebuild after the devastation of the fires
– Our call for the Ozy Homes development to be blocked, and calling for her strong advocacy with Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek. We are aware of the government’s commitments in the Threatened Species Action Plan and the Environment Minister’s personal promise to act to save threatened species.
