There is a real risk that invasive fire ants will spread through NSW without urgent action to stop them. Their bites are very painful and the swarming ants can kill humans, pets and native species. If they aren’t stopped now they’ll move to the Murray Darling Basin rivers and spread through the eastern states.
The Invasive Species Council has worked for years to avoid the disaster this would cause, but responses from pollies have been weak. Now the Council warns that their 6-point plan requires urgent attention and resourcing. They’ve set up a quick way for you to email our federal political leaders asking for action now.
