Petition – No more coal expansion in Mudgee Region

Action of the Week 10 June 2024

The Mudgee region is a great tourist destination, producing food and wine and offering picturesque scenery and adventure in rivers and National Parks.

But there’s a lot more going on. Three huge coal mines are wreaking havoc on water resources, koala habitat and ecosystems. Small town populations have collapsed as the mines have bought up more land.

Now all three mines are pushing to expand further, extending the damage they are doing to climate, water, wildlife and endangered woodlands.

The NSW government is fast-tracking renewable energy in the region so its attention should be on making the transition from coal fair for the Mudgee community, not allowing the damaging expansion of coal mining.

Mudgee Coal Alert members need us to support them by signing their ePetition to the NSW parliament.
