Over-extraction of water in the upper Murray Darling Basin rivers has caused years of low and non-existent flows, with resulting devastation of the Darling Baaka. But now the NSW government has in its hands a blueprint for turning it around – let’s call for its full and timely implementation.
The Darling Baaka can be protected from more mass fish kills, and its flows can be restored to sustain communities and wildlife. There’s an action plan by independent experts that will make a difference if implemented in full by the Minns government.
