Native forest Logging

Deforestation accelerates the climate emergency and can cause the extinction of koalas, gliders and other endangered species. Nannas have travelled to native forests up and down the east coast of NSW to see first-hand what is at stake. We have formed links with groups in these areas. We are campaigning for an end to native forest logging in NSW.

Great Koala National Park – In September 2025 the NSW government put a long-awaited moratorium on logging within the proposed Great Koala National Park’s boundaries and rolled out a job-keeper style support package for timber workers. Reserves will be added to the 176,000 hectares of state forest in mid-north NSW to protect more than 12,000 koalas. (The Guardian
