On Friday members of Sydney Knitting Nannas, Northern Beaches Climate Action, Lock the Gate, Gas Free Hunter and Coal Fields for Climate Action protested outside Rob Stokes office against the ludicrous $600 million Kurri Kurri gas power station.
Going against the Liberal Party’s usual policy of giving businesses a hand out, this power station will be funded by tax payers. It will create ten jobs in the region and is estimated to be used in emergencies only … 2% of the time.
Sydney Knitting Nannas and Friends will be protesting against the Kurri Kurri power station at the top of Martin Place near Parliament House next Wednesday 9 June from 11am to 1pm. All welcome to join us as we sing, dance, advocate against the project and hold our placards high.
In the meantime write a submission objecting to the Hunter Power Project – Construction and operation of a 750 megawatt (MW) gas fired power station, electrical switchyard and ancillary infrastructure at Kurri Kurri. Submissions due Wednesday 9 June.
