The Independent Planning Commission (IPC) is taking submissions until Monday 21 February on Whitehaven Coal’s plan to expand its already huge coal mining operations in the North West of NSW.
It’s more of the same from Whitehaven as they push for another 13 years of mining thermal coal. The same disregard for their destruction of water, farming land, Aboriginal heritage and the Pilliga forest.
The same disregard for the climate crisis – this project would release 34 million tonnes of greenhouse gases locally and 456 million tonnes when the coal is burnt.
