Update on the Narrabri Gas Project

After a recent visit to the Pilliga, Nanna Terry wrote a briefing paper for people not familiar with the Narrabri Gas Project and the associated problems with coal seam gas extraction.

This project is destined to be in the news a lot soon because –

Santos is in the Federal Court trying to override Gomeroi rights to their traditional lands and extinguish their Native Title claims.

The NSW government has just renewed three large exploration licences for coal seam gas on some of the best farming country in the state.

After ten years of research the Queensland gas companies, including Santos, have not come up with an acceptable safe, long term solution for millions of tonnes of salt waste brought to the surface from the coal seam.

Traditional Owners, farmers, Knitting Nannas and anyone concerned about the environment and climate change have long been campaigning against this project and Terry’s Santos Narrabri-Pilliga Gas briefing paper explains why.
