“Climate activists are sometimes depicted as dangerous radicals. But the truly dangerous radicals are the countries that are increasing the production of fossil fuels. Investing in new fossil fuels infrastructure is moral and economic madness.” Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General.
Nannas run a mile from the dangerous extremists, so we’ll be joining this gathering of people facing up to the climate emergency.
We’re coming together because:
- We know there are well over 100 new gas and coal projects being planned across the country, and that our planning and environment laws won’t stop them all
- The total carbon footprint from these projects would be almost 1.7 billion tonnes of CO2e, including both domestic and exported emissions
- Australia can transition to renewables in our exports as well as our domestic energy system. *
- Sticking with the fossil fuel expansion our governments are pushing would lock us into the dead-end of remaining a coal and gas quarry. Why risk our climate, water, food and environment further when we can make a clean transition?
We hope to see you at Sydney Town Hall next Sunday and 1pm.
