In late December 2022, the ABC revealed it had obtained documents showing the original business case for the Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct in Darwin.
Senator David Pocock said the NT government’s 2020 business case was “deeply concerning” as it is “the key to unlocking gas fields like Beetaloo”.
The documents reveal the hub would create an opportunity for future production of ethane-based products such as “plastics, paints, polymers and rubbers” as well as liquid gas for export. Fracked Beetaloo gas would be used against the consent of Traditional Owners.
The Labor Government will provide $1.9 billion in planned equity to support the development. Please sign and share the petition to stop public funding for the Middle Arm gas and petrochemicals hub.
