Preparing for big events

Nannas prepare for big events

This week Sydney Nannas have been preparing for some big events. On Wednesday a group of Nannas painted a huge sign at Lock the Gate offices in Chippendale for an event in the Liverpool Plains this weekend.

Other Nannas are getting banners and artwork ready for hanging in our Craftivism exhibition next weekend March 4-5. No one realised how much stuff they had until it all started coming together to prepare for the exhibition. Some Nannas homes must feel very empty now!!

Dr Larraine Larri’s article, The craft of wisdom: Climate activist learning in the
hands of Australia’s Knitting Nannas
discusses the contribution of craftivism to climate justice
learning through the practices of Australia’s Knitting Nannas Against
Gas and Greed (aka KNAG or the Nannas).
Published in the Australian Journal of Adult Learning
Volume 62, Number 3, November 2022

As the hanging of our craftivism artwork is scheduled for Friday 3 March the same day as the School Strike 4 Climate, Nannas going to the Strike at 12 noon at Town Hall are painting new placards to take along.
