Craftivism exhibition in historic house

Craftivism Exhibition - Saturday, Sunday 4-5 March

Sydney Knitting Nannas have been gathering their artworks on pieces of discarded cardboard and their wonderful knitted and crocheted banners, outfits and other objects ready for their Craftivism Exhibition. The focus is on original artworks, showing the Nannas quirkiness, humour and biting political satire.

The exhibition will be held at the historic Brush Farm House in Eastwood. The restored two story brick building was built in 1819-20 by Gregory Blaxland. It was restored by the City of Ryde in 2006-2007. The landscaping around the house was reconstructed in 2008 after a study of original tree plantings and other records.

Brush Farm House is currently the home of the Hand Weavers & Spinners Guild of NSW. The Guild conducts classes and workshops and their shop will be open selling hand woven items and interesting yarns, including hand spun.

Join us at the opening on Saturday at 11am for light refreshments, Nanna singing and hand spinning and weaving demonstrations by Guild members. Koala mask making and pom pom construction will entertain the children. Wander through the historic house to see our artworks.

Experienced crafters will be available on Saturday to teach you how to knit or crochet or you can ask for help to solve a problem for your work. However, not all Knitting Nannas knit or crochet.

Opening:
