The NSW government has promised to create the Great Koala National Park to protect koalas and other native species. This is an extremely welcome commitment – and it’s also significant climate action.
So what’s the problem? The very big problem is that Forestry Corporation NSW is going gang-busters logging native forests within the boundaries of the Park while the government consults about its establishment.

Forestry plans to log 30,813 hectares of it in the next 12 months. That’s 76,000 acres or 57,000 football fields of precious habitat!
This week’s action is to call, message or write to Minns government Ministers asking them to stop the devastation now.

- A bit about yourself, and why you care about stopping logging in the Great Koala National Park
- Say you want all the habitat preserved to save koalas from extinction and to help maintain biodiversity and climate protecting environments
- To keep the ALP’s promise to voters in the recent election the whole Park should be protected as it is
- Say you know Forestry Corporation NSW is government owned so power is in their hands to stop the bulldozers
- Say no to taxpayer funding of the destruction of endangered species and native forests – make a strong objection to the NSW Treasurer, Daniel Mookhey. In the last two years Forestry Corporation NSW has cost taxpayers $29 million. Healthy native forests help protect us and future generations from global warming.
Mr Mookhey will decide before the end of June whether to sign off on Forestry Corporation’s plan for the year ahead.
