The Angus Place coal mine is near Lithgow and lies beneath the Gardens of Stone protected conservation area.
Centennial Coal plans to expand the mine at further risk to this extraordinary site. Their next step in that direction is an attempt to dump contaminated water into Sydney’s Water Catchment, by-passing the treatment plant.
Gardens of Stone conservationists are calling on us to protect our water supplies by writing to the NSW Planning Minister, Paul Scully, urging him to refer the application to federal Environment Minister, Tanya Plibersek. This would allow for a more independent assessment of the impacts on water resources.
Please take a minute or two to protect our drinking water. Fill in the form to send a quick email to Minister Scully.
