Act for the Pacific

Send Action Aid letter to Chris Bowen

This week Chris Bowen needs to hear from us as he prepares for COP29 next month. Australia needs to show real solidarity with Pacific communities experiencing climate-induced extreme weather events.

The Albanese government’s recent approval of three coal mines in one day was a betrayal of their promises of real climate action and has drawn strong reactions from Pacific leaders.

Let’s stand with Pacific nations and other vulnerable countries by signing the ActionAid letter to Chris Bowen, Minister for Climate Change.

ActionAid’s policy report explains why this should be a priority for Australia at COP29, and how it can be done. Hint: Australians subsidize the fossil fuel industry to the tune of $11 billion annually and foreign mining companies pay little or no tax.
