Two quick and easy petitions to sign for our oceans this week.
Industrial salmon farming is destroying Tasmania’s rivers, bays and coastal waters. Ask Premier Jeremy Rockliff to stop further damage to the state’s ocean and waterways and marine life. Huge corporations with a history of environmental damage are taking control of this toxic industry – the salmon pens must go. There’s more information in this petition by the Bob Brown Foundation.
The deep sea is a treasure of biodiversity and home to untold wonders and possibilities. There are already many threats to the ocean ecosystems we all depend on. But to deep sea mining companies, like The Metals Company, it’s a new opportunity to destroy the natural environment by mining the sea floor.
Support the call from Greenpeace for the Australian government to support an international ban on this industry to protect the world’s oceans, marine life and people. Australia has power it can use to stop this industry.
