One of the Minns government’s promises before the last election was to rein in excessive land clearing on private land. It was out of control then, and it still is.
In 2024 a whopping 81,000 hectares of native vegetation was cleared in NSW – 810 square kilometres. That’s an increase of 16% in Labor’s first full year in government.
NSW conservation laws must be strengthened for this promise to be kept.
The Nature Conservation Council has a four-point plan to fix the laws, and the way they are regulated. Please use the email draft to contact your NSW MP asking them to support this action plan.
If you have a Labor MP remind them of their commitment, and the short time they have before the next election to deliver on it.
