1. Yes on NSW’s south coast. The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is concerned the resumption of logging in burnt forests will have long-term, irreversible impacts on forests and have warned Forestry NSW not to resume logging. The EPA seeks to preserve large old trees which often have hollows that are vital for forest dwelling creatures. They also seek to protect creeks and trees with unburnt canopies. Native forestry only accounts for 9% of wood products in NSW. We need to protect remaining native forests by phasing out logging and switching to 100% plantation.

2. Toxic pollution from waste incinerators contain dioxins and furans which are present in Agent Orange. They are persistent organic pollutants which accumulate in the body and the environment, and bio-accumulate in the food chain. Exposure may result in skin lesions, altered liver function, impairment of the immune system, the developing nervous system, the endocrine system and reproductive functions and are known human carcinogens.

3. Native Australian frogs lay eggs in floating foam clusters as large gelatinous clumps or ‘bubble nests’. Only cane toads lay eggs in long thin strands. Click here to see an image.
