New Pilliga film and other news

The Pilliga Project is a terrific film about the Pilliga Forest, the Narrabri Gas Project, how gas impacts water, the environment and communities and how it will spread to the north west food bowl. It also highlights the spread of gas mining around Australia. Please share widely.

Summer in the Pilliga has been very wet so wildflowers have been prolific and the forest has been rejuvenated after years of drought.  Santos has not been able to do much work in the forest as most of the roads are impassable in wet weather.

Santos is no longer sponsoring the Australian Open after so many people complained about their sponsorship of last year’s event. Nannas were enraged and many letters about “sportwashing were sent to Tennis Australia. Will Rugby Union follow their lead?

Santos boss Kevin Gallagher is downplaying the recent announcement that Energy Australia has given back its 20% shareholding of the Narrabri Gas Project. As gas prices are high, he believes there will be keen interest from potential replacement partners. But how long will prices remain high?
