Gas Free Hunter want the new Labor Federal Government to scrap the Kurri Kurri Gas Plant. Labor agreed to support the plant only if it could be built to run on a green hydrogen blend from commencement. But leading gas analysts say that’s not viable and energy experts say it’s not needed.
The money would be better spent on battery storage or on retraining locals at Kurri Kurri TAFE to work in the renewable energy sector.
If the experts are right the Kurri Kurri Gas Plant will become a stranded asset, an expensive monument to a failed Morrison Government.
