Manly Nannas brought together Pittwater and Sydney Nannas, XR and their drummers, Move Beyond Coal and others at Friday afternoon’s noisy rallies in Manly.

The loops and groups met outside the NAB Manly branch situated in The Corso where they gave NAB employees the Climate Fail Report by Move Beyond Coal. The NAB is biggest lender to fossil miners of the ‘big 4’ banks. NAB is increasing its funding of fossil fuels, which is money for more extreme weather events and the resulting disasters we hear about every day. They fund Whitehaven Coal, which is a climate felony. However, the rally was cheerful and peaceful, with minimal police, but still very effective as it was received well by the public.
Tamboran Resourses
From the NAB the Nannas marched (strolled) to the offices of Tamboran Resources located at the ocean beach end of The Corso. This US fracking company is now the biggest gas company operating in the Beetaloo Basin in the Northern Territory.
In a matter of weeks Tamboran expect to lead the gas industry’s invasion of the Beetaloo and start fracking for shale gas. And yet this company has just one tiny office in Australia, upstairs from Starbucks in Manly with a small sign and a locked door. Manly Nannas found them a while back and invited friends to a rally nearby yesterday. We called on Tamboran to listen to Traditional Owners and protect water, land, air and human health from fracking. We say no to a shale gas carbon bomb.
Sydney Climate Coalition meeting
Some Sydney Nannas attended the Sydney Climate Coalition meeting last week. They have been involved with this coalition of many environmental and climate groups for over a year. We have watched it grow and it is now known as the organiser of big climate rallies in Sydney.
