Say No to Santos Protest

Five Knitting Nannas attended the Say No to Santos Protest outside Santos’ office in Sydney on Thursday. Nannas have long been campaigning against Santos’ Narrabri Gas Project which includes 850 coal seam wells on Gomeroi land in the Pilliga Forest and surrounding farmlands in north west NSW.

The event was organised by School Strike 4 Climate and USyd Enviro Collective. Nic Clyde from Lock the Gate gave a quick update on the campaign against the project. This was followed by many speeches and music by Patrick. Lots of police and building security were there too.

At a meeting in March, the Gomeroi people voted overwhelmingly to reject the project; but Santos are trying to overturn Gomeroi Native Title and rush through this project – backed by both Labor and the Liberals.

Opposition to Santos gas in the Pilliga is the largest ever seen, say Gomeroi women Sydney Criminal Layers
