For ten years many of the Sydney Knitting Nannas and Friends have campaigned against coal and gas projects due to their emissions, the damage to the environment and the effects on climate change. We believe there was a tipping point in 2021. Most Australians accept that Climate Change is real, coal and gas mining areContinue reading “Nannas in Action in 2021”

NAB funds gas projects
Were you one of the many people who lobbied NAB for a policy switch away from funding new fossil fuel projects? Are you wondering whether it worked?
No Kurri Kurri Gas Plant
Two of our members live in Rob Stokes’ electorate, and they invited Nannas to this special rally outside his office to protest against the Kurri Kurri gas plant, which not only encourages the expansion of gas in NSW, but promises to be a $600 million white elephant, offering a pathetic ten long term jobs inContinue reading “No Kurri Kurri Gas Plant”
LNP’s Pathetic 2030 Target

Plan to visit the Pilliga?
The Sydney Knitting Nannas and Friends recently travelled to northwest NSW to see for themselves not only Santos’ unwanted gasfield in the Pilliga forest, but also the many attractions the area has to offer visitors. The Nannas’ blog has now been updated with more photos and information to help you plan a trip there too.
Nannas and Students against Kurri Kurri Gas
Sydney Knitting Nannas were joined by USyd Enviro Collective today to protest against the Hunter Gas-Fired Power Station at Kurri Kurri in Martin Place. Lots of speeches, singing and dancing!
Kurri Kurri Gas Protests
On Friday members of Sydney Knitting Nannas, Northern Beaches Climate Action, Lock the Gate, Gas Free Hunter and Coal Fields for Climate Action protested outside Rob Stokes office against the ludicrous $600 million Kurri Kurri gas power station.
